Master the HSRP Booking Process

Confused by the new High Security Registration Plate rules? We break down the state-wise regulations, sticker color codes, and documentation needed before you visit the official portal.

How to Book HSRP: The 5-Step Framework

1

Check Your State's Vendor

Different states use different portals. For UP and Delhi, 'BookMyHSRP' is common. For Punjab, it is 'PunjabHSRP'. Always start by verifying your state on the SIAM website.

2

Have Your RC Ready

You cannot book without your Registration Certificate. You will need the last 5 digits of your Chassis Number and Engine Number.

3

Select "Home Delivery" vs "Dealer"

Home delivery is convenient but costs extra (~₹250). Dealer fitment is cheaper but requires you to drive to the agency. Choose carefully; changing this later is difficult.

4

Verify The Appointment Receipt

Once paid, you will get a PDF receipt. Print this out! Traffic police often demand this slip as proof of booking if you are stopped before your plate arrives.

Decoding the Color-Coded Stickers

The "Third License Plate" sticker on your windshield is mandatory. Here is what the colors mean:

Light Blue

Petrol & CNG Vehicles

Orange

Diesel Vehicles

Green

Electric Vehicles (EV)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HSRP mandatory for old vehicles? +

Yes. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made it mandatory for all vehicles sold before April 2019 to upgrade to HSRP to track stolen vehicles and improve road safety.

Can I just buy the plate online here? +

No. We are an educational guide. You must visit the government-authorized portals (like SIAM or BookMyHSRP) to pay and book. We provide the redirect link for your convenience.

What if my plate is damaged? +

You do not need to book a whole new set. You can apply for a "Replacement HSRP" on the official portal, specifically citing "Damage" as the reason.
